UCAS Personal Statement Advice
Posted on September 14th, 2019
Writing a UCAS statement is one of those things that you’ll probably leave to the last minute and often because it’s hard to write. You’ve got to sell yourself in just 4000 characters and capture the attention of your university within seconds . I’m sure that your teachers at school have advised that you complete it over the school holidays when you have plenty of time to get it done. If you’re like most other students then it’s likely that you’ll leave it until the weeks before you’re required to submit it to your teachers at school. The longer you delay it the less chance you have of getting an offer at your first choice university.
I am often asked by students to provide feedback on their personal statements for university and I’ve helped over 1,000 students get in to their first choice university. I’ve included a few tips that you can follow. Make sure that you include the majority of the below on your statement. It’ll put you head and shoulders above your competition.
Para 1- why did you apply for your course? What interests you about it?
Para 2- why university?
- Loved what I’ve done so far I want to take it further.
- Like studying and academic work.
- Join sports clubs e.g. mixed martial arts.
- Meet different people backgrounds.
Para 3- Interests?
- Books that you’ve found interesting
- Mixed martial arts, do you take part in a sports team?
Para 4- what am I going to bring to university?
